Home Support Workers – Aged Care

We are currently recruiting passionate Home Support Workers to provide domestic assistance, personal care, individual social and shopping support to older individuals to allow them to lead fulfilling lives and avoid premature need for aged care facilities.

We deliver services across the ACT covering children, families, young people and seniors including disability, housing and mental health services.

Our Offer

  • Part time (20 hours/week) fixed Term (up to 30 June 2027) or Casual appointment.
  • Salary:
    • Fixed Term: $59,688.06 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 11.5% superannuation.
    • Casual: Hourly rate of $37.64 (inclusive of 25% casual loading) plus 11.5% Superannuation.
  • Based in Woden and travel within Canberra.

  • For Fixed term staff:
    • 12 weeks paid parental leave.

    • Paid shutdown leave on standard working days between Christmas and New Year.

About the role

  • Work alongside our clients to enable them to achieve their goals in line with their individual service goals.
  • Work alongside clients to maximise their independence, self-esteem and confidence using a person-centred approach.
  • Assist clients in their shopping and other daily needs.
  • Provide personal care to clients to ensure hygiene and comfort.
  • Domestic duties including cleaning and assisting clients in maintaining their residences.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support – Ageing.
  • Relevant community sector-based knowledge.
  • Good interpersonal skills to communicate clearly with service users to provide sensitive and appropriate support to people who are ageing and/or have a disability.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and build and maintain sound relationships with individuals, carers and families based on mutual respect and trust.
  • Demonstrated understanding of professional boundaries, privacy and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Current driver’s license and access to a reliable, registered and comprehensive insured vehicle.
  • Reliable, punctual and person-centred approach to work.
  • First Aid Certificate.
