The mental health teams at Woden Community Service (WCS) celebrated the last round of the Nutrition Education Skills Training (NEST) cooking program facilitated by Oz Harvest on Tuesday 23 May.
Oz Harvest had run a six-week program for our mental health participants teaching them about nutrition and fundamental cooking skills.
To celebrate, the ACT Minister for Health Rachel Steven-Smith attended the Woden Youth Centre to promote the NEST Program and engage in some of the activities with the participants. It was a fantastic morning and provided Oz Harvest the opportunity to advocate for more funding to allow their program to grow. WCS had the opportunity to facilitate a round of the NEST Program to our participants and will again later this year.
It was a positive experience for our staff and participants to get the chance to speak with the Minister and Oz Harvest about the benefits of the program and how needed these skills are to vulnerable people living with mental health.
We thank the WCS Mental health teams for supporting this program and congratulate everyone involved on such a great day!
