The ACE Skills for Life is a free program which provides participants with foundational language, literacy and numeracy training in a supported learning environment. The program supports vulnerable culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people in small groups of 10-12 participants.
Woden Community Service (WCS) will provide professional education resources augmented by a wide range of support services including, but not limited to, psycho-social support, childminding and transport services. Additionally, WCS will provide structured post-program support to prepare participants for job application and to attend interviews and to assist with enrolments for further training.
The Skills for Life program is affiliated the WCS Social Enterprise arm of the organisation, providing pathways to employment in hospitality, cleaning and gardening. This provides a clear structure and plan to support participants in bridging barriers to engaging in further education and employment.
This project receives funding support from the ACT Government through the ACT Adult Community Education grants program.
